Moodle - The First Steps
This unit is aimed at teachers who are new to the popular learning environment Moodle. The unit consists of five learning modules and a series of practical exercises that combine to create a Moodle course for a subject of your choice. The focus of the unit is on skills and pedagogy that should equip the teacher with the knowledge and skills to develop both distance and blended learning programmes for use with their students. The unit is fully supported by online resources written by teachers for teachers in a practical context. There are no exams in this unit.
All units are 10 hours duration and are normally delivered over 5 weeks online which makes them ideal for busy teachers.
This unit is aimed at teachers, lecturers and those who support classroom activities and are looking for new ways to interact with learners outside of the classroom. It covers the skills and pedagogy of wiki management as well as ideas for collaborative online activities. It also includes using social bookmarking as a tool for research and reference which can be incorporated into wikis. The unit consists of five learning modules and a series of practical exercises that combine to create an online activity for a subject of your choice.
This course requires the practitioner to design and edit a wiki whilst incorporating appropriate bookmarking tools, resources and links suitable for a learning activity in a chosen curriculum area.

The Virtual College site Moodle4Teachers, provide a series of online learning CPD units accredited by Agored Cymru (formerly OCN Wales), EdExcel, BCS, PRINCE2, SAGE and HABC.
Each unit is delivered, at maximum, over a 5 week period at 2 hours per week (this is flexible i.e. any time in the week). No travelling and 24 hour access from anywhere with an internet connection. Many units focus as much on pedagogy as they do on developing skills.
All resources are available online and each learner is fully supported by qualified teachers and lecturers with many years experience both in the classroom and as online tutors. The units are aimed at how to use technology effectively with students in a Blended Learning approach.
Moodle - the First Steps is ideal for practitioners who wish to develop a pedagogically sound programme of learning and at the end of each unit you will have part of a Moodle course (there's only so much you can complete in 5 weeks!) for your own curriculum area that is made available as a download to take back to your own school or institutional Moodle - ready to be used with your students straight away! Similarly the Interactive Whiteboard units focus on skills and pedagogy and the outcomes of the course are lessons for your own curriculum area - nothing wasted!
